Assistance with Travel and Transport
Being able to commute anywhere gives you freedom and independence like no other. But if you live with limited mobility, transportation is far more than just getting from A to B.
Having mobility issues due to permanent disability or old age is not easy. Travelling is especially difficult, considering the hassle of commuting if you do not own a car or don’t have someone to drive you around. But with the help of NDIS registered providers, travelling is now less of a challenge through their assistance with travel transport arrangements.
LifeSycle is an NDIS registered provider that offers quality Australian NDIS home care services. We are also NDIS transport providers that offer NDIS transport services to NDIS participants with travel needs.
How Does This Assistance with Travel Transport Arrangements Work?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) offers transportation support to ensure that all participants have the capacity to travel. For people with disabilities, transportation is critical because, without the ability to do so, they will find it difficult to participate in society, contribute to the economy, educate themselves, and gain more independence.
If your NDIS plan includes funding for transport allowance, you will most likely be covered for assistance with travel transport arrangements. A qualified support worker will be assigned to you. They can assist you with your travel needs, such as getting to appointments or visiting family or friends, only in insured and registered vehicles.
A support worker may accompany the client on public transportation or in their vehicle. We can help clients ride and pay for taxis, rideshares, community vehicles, and other forms of local public transportation options appropriate for individuals with disabilities.
A support worker might also teach the client how to use public transportation independently if they opt to do so.
Levels of Transport Support Funding
There are three types of transportation financing assistance, and the levels are intended to provide participants with a transportation budget.
First Level: Participants who no longer work, study or attend day programs are eligible for up to $1,606 per year under the NDIS if they want to enhance their access to the community.
Second Level: For NDIS participants who are presently working or studying part-time, participating in day programs, engaging in other social activities, or even recreational and leisure, they will be eligible for up to $2,472 per year under the NDIS.
Third Level: A maximum of $3,456 per year will be provided to participants who are already employed, actively seeking employment, or enrolled in school for at least 15 hours per week and unable to travel by public transportation due to their disability.
